Early Cotton

It seems as if everything is happening early this year. This is the field behind my parents home. Please excuse the quality of pictures, my phone was used for these pictures.

Below is a bloom, It will turn pink, fall off and a cotton boll will appear.

This is a lovely sight to me, I enjoy watching cotton grow and change.

  1. Pretty, I love cotton. The blooms are beautiful and the white fluffy cotton gorgeous. I have the privilege of having it in front of my home in the country also and enjoy it. Your pictures are lovely..

  2. Melanie,
I always say that every family has a "crazy Aunt Sally" or a "nutty Uncle Harry" - and our family is no different. :)

Thanks for your kind comments at Spots and Wrinkles.
    Have a good day. Marsha

  3. I remember the first time I saw cotton actually growing on a plant! I was shocked at how it felt! I felt bad for all the people that had to pick it!

    1. I grew up with it and tend to forget that not everyone has seen cotton! It must have been awful to pick by hand. Thank goodness for modern machinery. The changes in my lifetime alone are amazing! I remember when 6 row cotton pickers were "new" and now they are old and out of date! Times change quickly, but those blooms remain as lovely as they were in my childhood!!! Thanks!!!!
